Merci beaucoup pour cette belle note. Effectivement, nous n'avions pas de français l'été sur le site d'où l'anglais en permanence mais nous faisons tout pour faire connaitre ce camping à la clientèle française, il nous faut donc faire quelques réajustements :)

PERSONNEL : accueil - disponibilité - engagement - aimabilité = SUPER Si la dame sympathique blonde à l'accueil est la gérante et si c'est Valérie avec la quel la réservation a été opérée : félicitations, chapeau et respect > Super - au plaisir SITE : très beau avec des emplacements spacieux - sanitaire en suffisance et propre - très beau cadre (environnement - bar - terrasse - emplacements - personnel) - le restaurant nous n'y avons pas eu recourt donc pas d'évaluation
* juste le premier soir : catastrophe au niveau de la cuisine, personnel complètement débordé, dépassé et stressé - pas moyen d'avoir 2 pizzas à emporter * et dimanche soir pour le cochon à la broche - sur 3/4 hrs, les premiers cochons sur 2 pattes s'étaient déjà servis au moins 2 fois et pour les correctes qui passaient après une 1. fois on pesait déjà les rations - mais c'était plus de la faute des égoïstes qui mangent comme ce qu'ils ont mangé ;o) que de la votre. * et en partant que la citerne pour vidanger les eaux usées (grises) était bloquée par des toilettes dressées dessus

Merci beaucoup pour votre retour Une meilleure organisation sera mise en place l'année prochaine pour le cochon. C'était notre 1ere et la gestion de 700 personnes n'est pas simple.

I love being camped in the woods area - quiet, peaceful, green and with electricity, water and drainage - extremely convenient. We enjoyed several walks on the various paths around the site.
Closing at the end of August. We never holiday until September - once France has gone back to work - but you're never open. But my thanks to Valerie for allowing us to stay on the extra night. We would have used the restaurant more, but at the end of the season, they were running the menu down and not all dishes were available.

The staff were just absolutely wonderful - cheerful and helpful and accommodating. There was lots to do and the site is so varied - even the chicken (we called her Chicky) was lovely to sit and watch!
It would be brilliant if there was somewhere to buy snacks through the day, such as chips or sandwiches. We also found that the little footpath going into our pitch (woods 5) was a bit annoying and felt a bit public! But otherwise we had just a wonderful time and are so grateful!

The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly at reception and in the restaurant. The setting was delightful. The food quality was good.
Our pitch (Wood 5) had a path running through it so we frequently had people walking through ... this spoiled our stay. The pathways throught the woods had brambles and acacia which needed cutting back. The acacia (thorns) were particularly dangerous for young children. The outside restaurant area was tired looking and the ground was very dirty and dusty - a refurb would be welcome. On our way out we stopped at the motorhome waste disposal point but found we were unable to empty the WC cassette.

Apart from the pathway, the pitch would have otherwise been secluded. The EHU, water and drain were good.
The pathway already mentioned and the area was rather worn down to sand and dirt. Other pitches in the woods (like the one in the picture here) enjoyed a more pleasant grass surface.

Used as a stop over for 2 nights but genuinely upset we didn't book in for longer... The site is lovely, staff really helpful, and the kids enjoyed the pool and park. We never had time to explore outside the site. We definitely recommend this site to others with or without family

What a wonderful site! Full of character and charm. Generous size pitches (ours had all services) and loads of space on the site even when full. Showers/toilets always clean and available. Lovely bar terrace area, takeaway pizzas were delicious. Couldn't fault any of the young staff. Always had a smile and very helpful. Well done Les Castels, keep doing what you're doing!
The small shop could be better stocked but large supermarket only 10mins drive.

Once again, a peaceful stay at our favourite site. Super friendly staff, chilled environment and a great pitch (in the wooded area).
On site restaurant, which we ate in for the first time, had a rude lady who behaved sooo differently to the rest of the folks on site that it sort of ruined our meal.

First time staying really really like it, going to be my first choice for the future.
The meal on the Sunday, for 28 euro there was simply not enough food. All the food i.e. the roast pig was very nice just not enough.

The setting is lovely. The staff are very friendly. Toilets and showers are clean and shower is a proper shower with adequate water.
Site is very noisy at nignt and doesn't seem to have quiet hours after 11pm like most campsites. Not suitable for families with young children. Pool was very dirty and could do with a clean, it doesn't seem to be cleaned every evening.

Thank you very much for this feedback. You came at Chanteloup during the 24h and we informed you about it. You are right, during this event there is a lot of people and a lot of noise. People come to have fun and party. We are so sorry for this, with children it is better to chosse other dates. As for the swimming pool, it is cleaned every night. We would be happy to welcome you at another period during the summer :)

The surroundings are beautiful, the pool and children's play areas were wonderful for our kids, the pitch was large and convenient for amenities. We loved the bar and sitting out under the canopy playing games with our children. The atmosphere at the bar area was lovely and we met lots of lovely fellow campers. The reception staff we extremely friendly.
We would have scored this campsite so much better but sadly we were very disturbed by noisy neighbours in the cabins. The large group played amplified music through the day which made our pitch not relaxing at all. At night they partied and made so much noise our children were left on years unable to sleep and the owners could not control it at all. On out final night they were partying til 4:30/5am. IT ruined what was an amazing campsite as we were not rested at all. I guess we were unlucky, I hope so for other campers sake as this is a super expensive site and not what you expect.

Large, flat, private, very natural and close to amenities
Sadly the noise from the cabins was terrible and made the cost a bitter pill to swallow, had we not prepaid we would have refused to pay for it.

Pitch close to the Chateau was lovely but I would not have wanted to be in the woods. People friendly. Very quiet where you can rest but a little boring after a while.
We arrived week before LeMans and it was not ready to receive people. The restaurant was more cafe with higher prices and didn’t know how to uncork a bottle as team were not trained no shop to get basic stuff which when in a MH is a nice to have after setting up as nothing close by either. There was a load of effort in the last few days pre leman which made it annoying as we paid the same should. but we’re clearly lees important in regards details.. You also have to pay for Wi-Fi which should be included as it is not a cheap place to stay. Left a day early overall expectations not achieved

The chateau and surroundings are stunningly beautiful. The part of then site we were on was very peaceful. The facilities were pleasant and clean. Lots of places to walk with our dog.

Thank you very much for this feedback. You chose a pitch with water drainage, they are a bit far away because you can use you own toilets but we have many other pitches near the castle, at the reception when you arrive, you always have the choice to move to another pitch :). Concerning the ants, we are so sorry but it is a campsite and you are in the nature :)

The setting is beautiful and the range of different types of pitches is great. We stayed in the woods which was peaceful. Staff were very friendly and helpful and everything was clean and tidy.
The restaurant wasn’t very good at all. It didn’t match the grandeur of the grounds or the setting. The marquees were old with bad lighting and should have been swept of leaves etc from the roof tops . It needs some form of flooring. We took our dogs and they were covered in sand and bits by the end. When we arrived the three staff were sitting chatting and didn’t acknowledge us. The menu was okay but far too overpriced for the quality of the food and there wasn’t enough choice of drinks. We were there for three nights and the daily menu didn’t change. We were really disappointed

The pitches were lovely. Spacious and pretty level. We were in the woods this time and it was cool and shaded with just enough coverage to let some sunshine through. It was great to have water and a drain really close by.

Great site with all you need to enjoy caravan life. We had great pitches and could not fault the cleanliness and staff availability. Communal BBQ was a hit with everyone, a chance to mingle and chat with other campers. There are different pitches for different needs. Although we brought teenagers you'd not really know as the site is quiet. Were booking again so they must be doing something right.
Not a lot to moan about to be honest. If anything, need to sort out the restaurant and takeaway! Ohh and be sure to bring extra cable, the Electricity hookup can be a distance

Beautiful pitches backing on to wooded areas. Clean bright but shaded at times. Just loved it.
As commented before, make sure you have enough cable, some pitches can be a distance from the hookup

Beautiful locayion
Too sunny but that was because of ridiculous 40 degree temperatures. Plenty of places to find some shade.

We loved the site and as a family we all had a lovely time. It was beautiful and we'd love to come again.
The toilets were smelly and dirty quite often. I think they just needed cleaning more regularly. Also the shop on site was very expensive and not very well stocked. A lot of the meat (sausages) were 2 days out of date and still being sold.

Many thanks for this important feedback. The toilets are regularly cleaned but with a lot of people on site, they can get dirty quickly but we will reduce the number of people and the shop will change next year :)

6 Euros per glass of House Red was far too expensive, particularly in France. Equally, the shop which was sparsely stocked and very expensive. The theory of price elasticity of demand would suggest that lowering if prices would actually increase sales revenue.

We were so happy to come back to a Castels site after being on the coast. We love the rural, peaceful chateau camping with all its amenities. We haven't commented on the activities as we haven't done any but I am sure there were some.

Good size pitches, quiet at night
Not much shade so got very hot and bright in the morning,. Toilets were quite far from the pitch. Some loud machinery noise from the farm next door early in the morning.

Relaxed French atmosphere. Lovely people. Cool woodland area for out caravan. Nice pool and restaurant. This is our 4th visit and we love it every time.

We all had a lovey time, pool and ice creams were the main requirements! Kids will miss the friendly dutch cat!
Shop could have more choice. But eating in the restaurant was a great experience.

Services were fine, seem to be an issue with other pitches using the power. But all sorter with our neighbour who had plenty of connectors for us all to share!

A lot of space and a luxury to have a water tap for our own and so close.
A bit more shadow would have been great, but I completely understand that this wish is kind of hard to facilitate (trees do grow slow).

Very welcoming staff. Very sociable site with lovely casual seating areas. Large pitch, clean hot showers and toilets. Loved the bread delivery and the little market stalls. Will visit again
We felt that the restaurant could have been better. We understand that the establishment cater for mainly families but we felt that if could be made more appealing rather than being told that it wasn’t run by the management and not their responsibility. Surely everything on site is the management’s responsibility and should enhance your stay. Like the general ambiance and little touches line the bread delivery, the market stalls, the massages, the games areas and activities. The bar and grassed pool area with a bar. The endless supply of ice creams and the helpful friendly staff.

Thank you for the great review but for the restaurant, it is on our domaine but managed by someone else as you knew it, and when it is like that with a contract signed, we can't do anything except warn people, as we did. you have decided to go, it is your responsibility. We have to finish the year with him but we will not work with him next year.

Large pitch close to amenities but still fairly private with hedges.
Not really. Used restaurant which we understand had had complaints. Staff were very accommodating. Food was generally acceptable but could have been better. I had the maigret and was given salad instead of potatoes on the menu. The duck was ok but didn’t look that appetising as it seemed broiled instead of grilled. My husband had pasta and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not happy with on site Restraunt as it is poorly operated. Sadly it reflects on overall experience although not run by Chateau owners.

We have stayed here many times. We love the size of the pitches, the beautiful environment and the staff.
Only one shower in the verger block and it was cold. The pool needs some time and money spent on it. Not enough parasols and about half don’t work as the as they are too close the the hedges and can’t be erected at all. The pool needs some signage about respecting other guests. Perhaps one of the pools to be made adult or swimming only. We were unable to swim/use either pool due to people constantly diving and jumping in.

As for the swimming pool, it is not a big one so when you have a lot of people coming, it is crowed, especially when it is really hot. This swimming pool is not made for swimming except if you do it early in the morning :)

The wooded pitches were superb. On a hot sunny weekend the trees gave just enough welcoming shade, but not so much that we didn't benefit from sitting in the glorious sunshine while chatting away. Electricity and water on the pitches was the best.
The grading questions below are not clear. I assume 10 is the top mark for beautiful sunny weather, which is what we enjoyed for all 3 days. Likewise for the other grades, I assume 10 is the best mark we can give. Suggest you change "(Grade on 10)" to "(10 is highest/best grade)" You then ask the same question twice about the Campsite Collection. I cannot comment on the Collection as I have only stayed at Chanteloup, which I highly recommend and award the highest/best grade to.

Helpful friendly staff. Managed to find us a mechanic who fixed our van in less than 24 hours. Good clean services and tasty food! Delicious local baked goods every morning. Free WiFi by the chateau and some free "WiFi tickets" for elsewhere in the campsite. An amazing relaxed, easy-going atmosphere where you can get away for a few days. We had the most amazing stay and couldn't have asked for more.

Pretty Place nice spaces!
Ordered Prawns in Alio butter with Rice Pillaf. Came with no alio butter, no Rice pillaf, came with microwaved vegtables over cooked. Tablecloth was dirty as was the serviette, cutlery was awful ( boot sale) Very disappointing for such a lovely place. Would stay again but only order fast food like burgers or pizza they looked very good.

Die Stellplätze und das ganze Anwesen sind wunderschön! Auch die sanitären Anlagen sind sauber und ordentlich. Wir kommen hier gerne wieder her.
Die Küche des Restaurants hat uns überhaupt nicht überzeugt. Die Entenbrust war kalt und zehn und die grünen Bohnen waren ebenfalls kalt. Selbst nach der Korrektur war es nicht viel besser. Vermutlich hat man alles nur kurz in eine Mikrowelle gestellt, was das Ganze eher verschlechterte.! Obwohl ich fast alles zurückgehen ließ, musste ich den kompletten Preis bezahlen. Es gab kein Entgegenkommen noch nicht einmal mit einem Nachtisch. Ich kann das Restaurant tatsächlich nicht empfehlen. Schade eigentlich denn alles andere ringsrum ist unglaublich schön!

Wir haben auf unserer Reise in die Bretagne hier kurz Halt gemacht und übernachtet. Der Campingplatz ist sehr malerisch gelegen und hat schöne Stellplätze.
Die WC‘s waren zum Teil mehrfach verstopft, wohl weil nicht richtig beschildert war, dass kein Papier heruntergespült werden sollte.

Die Rezeption war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, das Ambiente insgesamt ist außergewöhnlich und der Pool bei Hitze sehr gut.
Die WC und Waschanlagen sind weit unter den angegebenen 4,5 Sternen! Das Wasser bei den Geschirrspülen wird maximal lauwarm, eine vernünftige Reinigung ist damit nicht möglich, am WC gibt es überhaupt nur Kaltwasser, in den Waschräumen dafür keine Seife und keine Möglichkeit zum Abtrocknen. Ein weiteres Ärgernis sind die andauernd bellenden Hunde von einigen Gästen.

Rezeption und Mitarbeiter: innen ausnahmslos freundlich und hilfsbereit, gesamte Anlage des Platzes sehenswert, Stellplätze großzügig bemessen und sehr gepflegt, Schwimmbad und Spielplatz für Kinder werden sehr stark angenommen, Sanitäranlagen auf den ersten Blick rustikal aber stets sauber, Stellplätze für jeden Geschmack entweder auf der Wiese oder am Teich oder tief im Wald. Wir waren zum dritten Mal dort und sind auch nach 20 Jahren immer wieder überrascht wie schön der Platz ist und wie unverändert nett das Personal.
Das Angebot im Restaurant (im Freien unter Zeltplane) entspricht vom Umfang und den Preisen nicht dem Anspruch des Platzes. Die Pizza überteuert und das restliche Angebot nicht für Camper geeignet.

Leuke camping om een paar dagen te staan
Sanitaire voorzieningen (vooral toiletten) zijn aan renovatie toe en zou ook beter schoongehouden moeten worden. Zou fijn zijn als er permanente gratis WIFI op de plaats aanwezig zou zijn. Gratis WIFI bij receptie werkte niet.

Thank you for the feedback, it is important for us. The toilets are regularly cleaned and 3 times a day during the high season but maybe, when there is many people onsite, we should do it more.

Het is echt een familiecamping met met name engelse en nederlandse gezinnen. Er is veel te doen en het personeel is werkelijk perfect! Voor iets meer rust hebben we voor het tweede jaar in het Bois of Wood gestaan. Iets verder lopen naar de toiletten.
Het zwembad is wel vol en druk. Er zou een kleiner toiletgebouw in Bois of Wood bij kunnen. Dat scheelt lopen.

Zeer grote standplaats in het bos midden in de rust en de natuur
Jammer dat er geen echt restaurant was. Buiten eten onder het zeil van een tent heeft wel zijn charmes, doch kan je niet echt een restaurant noemen. Eten was wel verzorgd en lekker, doch met beperkte keuze.

Het is een groot park, veel ruimte, over het algemeen goede plekken en een prima “lassen-faire” sfeer. De staff is vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De centrale openlucht recreatieruimte biedt ruimte voor activiteiten voor iedereen.
Het zwembad is wat verouderd en te kleine bij volle bezetting. De toiletruimte is schoon (genoeg) maar oogt het niet. De douches zijn gedateerd.

Prachtige ruime plaats in de schaduw. Zwemmen, tafeltennis, jeu de boules veel gebruik van gemaakt. Heerlijke douche. Zeer vriendelijk personeel.

Thank you for this great grade. For the noise, we have 4 events during the summer and at these moments, there can be a little bit of noise, regulars here are very fan of these activities. But we have far pitches much more quiet, so everyone can be happy :)

Een heerlijke sprookjesachtige plek waar een ongedwongen sfeer heerst. Een plek waar heel het gezin het naar zijn zin had. Een camping waar we graag weer terug willen komen.
Sanitair vonden wij niet heel hygiënisch. De winkel is erg duur en het assortiment zeer klein dus je moet wel elke dag even langs een supermarkt. Dat is jammer.

Thank you for this great review and good grade. As for the small grocery store, it is not us, it is the external provider who manages the restaurant, we understand and he will not be here next year? The toilets are cleaned twice a day regularly.
